New York based hospital NYU Langone, ranked one of the top 10 best hospitals in the USA, has just delivered a one hour long webinar on the benefits they are getting from Oneview Healthcare (ASX:ONE)’s technology - which they have already rolled out to most of their hospital beds.

The best recommendations come from actual users of a product. We have extracted four key soundbites from the webinar for you below... our favourite is number 4.

Our 2021 Tech Pick of the Year ONE is a health tech company that provides hospital patients a “virtual care and digital control centre” at their bedside to deliver the best possible patient experience during their stay.

There is no better validation that a technology product is on the right track than when a high profile customer gives it a public endorsement, especially from such a prestigious hospital like NYU Langone, especially in an hour long webinar.

If you are invested in ONE we highly recommend watching the full webinar. However, we know most people are probably too busy to watch the full hour, so we have taken out the key snippets for you, including what we thought were the most important soundbites below:

First, who presented in the webinar?

Dr Paul Testa, CMIO NYU Langone Health, and Ruchi Patel, Senior Product Manager NYU Langone Health, exploring NYU Langone’s digital patient experience strategy and how Oneview Healthcare’s Care Experience Platform has helped improve patient, family & clinician experience.

Our Four Favourite Soundbites... Number 4 is the best

1. ONE’s technology is fit for purpose

9:28 The product that came from Oneview really did meet a lot of those goals that we had from a feature prospective ... as well as being able to support the idea that we wanted to continually expand and add on over time without a significant amount of overhead....

We also had an opportunity with Oneview to really build their roadmap together and partner with them to innovate and to ultimately be able to scale this product across our hospital system

2. Ease to Expand ONE solution across the hospital

34:25 and trying to think holistically across the board we’re looking at all of this to try and create these standard packages that we can then deploy to each of these different types of units so that no matter whichever NYU Langone you’re going to have that similar modern experience with all of the great functionality that comes with the Oneview platform.

3. Quick deployment times

38:17 Cloud and automation can reduce those deployment times and again try to get value to end users as quickly as possible - and finally scaling does require having that right foundation in place for the house to really be built upon.... I think there is no way to not look at this as part of the holistic digital health strategy of the enterprise ...as we impact our patients lives and their healing we impact our caregivers ability to provide that care

4. Affordability and ease to deploy for any hospital

43:43 [Q] We’re not as large and well-funded as Langone – what can we do?

[A] I would say point blank the cloud solution that Oneview brought to us in our time of need was an out of the box turnkey, frankly fairly affordable, option that required much was sort of that small, medium and large, that goldilocks what we needed at a moment and I’d say every bit of integration is not necessary ... there is a clear advantage to the Cloud solution that is really light footprint and sort of turnkey in that regards

Other highlights from NYU Langone on their use of ONE technology

NYU Transcript - More key highlights:

6:17 We wanted to design a system that was holistic that didn’t negatively impact the other systems that were in place, as well as the other operational workflows that were needed to support this care journey.

7:13 Ultimately, the goal was to improve the patient family and clinician experience.... facilitating and prompting open communication about care plans provide entertainment... as well as personalising the experience in a way that is unique to each patient

9:08 We set out on this journey to find this holistic integrated product that can work with our workflows and meet those business and user goals.

9:28 The product coming from Oneview really did meet a lot of those goals that we had from a feature prospective... as well as being able to support the idea that we wanted to continually expand and add on over time without a significant amount of overhead.

10:23 Product Highlights

12:04 We were able to provide a patient hub that ultimately empowers patients, families and their care teams they’re working with to really partner in their care journey.

22:42 In June 2018 we really seized that opportunity of reimagining what that inpatient digital experience might look like ... we’re now looking at really trying to scale rapidly and bring this really great patient experience to all our different locations across our hospital system

24:00 [On dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic] We didn’t know what was going to come with the virus ... ambiguity was high and the need for something that could adapt quickly and be deployed quickly was really at the forefront. We really had two main reasons for connecting different groups of people that became apparent really quickly – one was to connect providers with patients... and the second was to connect patients with families.

24:59 There was an added layer of urgency to really get it right the first time .. Oneview had reached out to us with a Cloud based version of their product ... the Oneview solution that was being proposed sounded like something we could use much more quickly and much more easily...

The power here is that this happened incredibly quickly .. we can do better. We fortunately had a foothold at the footwall

31:00 Discussing nursing using Facetime

So in conjunction with Oneview we had immediately expanded 500 additional cloud based tablets that we could deploy out telemedicine integrated with Oneview solution in these rooms. We needed something turnkey, fast ... that was simple and provided that force magnification. We looked at dedicated telemedicine carts that were between 15 and 35 thousand dollars a pop. They required heavy touch and when the software updated for those it also required us to touch the devices .. so an army of tablets was deployed ... and our clinicians were able to monitor patients.

33:05 We quickly saw that we were conducting about 1,000 video visits a day and that has maintained even post covid it’s finally been proven that we can do this in an inpatient setting.

34:25 ...trying to think holistically across the board we’re relooking at all of this to try and create these standard packages that we can then deploy to each of these different types of units so that no matter whichever NYU Langone you’re going to have that similar modern experience with all of the great functionality that comes with the Oneview platform.

36:41 ... we can then deliver value to our end-users whether it’s patients families or the care teams much more quickly than we have historically.

37:06 Even just thinking though some of those interaction design aspects really creates this ultimate total product package that we can then put together and create this consistent digital experience everywhere

38:17 Cloud and automation can reduce those deployment times and again try to get value to end users as quickly as possible and finally scaling does require having that right foundation in place for the house to really be built upon.

39:00 I think there is no way to not look at this as part of the holistic digital health strategy of the enterprise ...as we impact our patients lives and their healing we impact our caregivers ability to provide that care

Q&A highlights

40:42 What were the greatest successes ... there are so many ... really having that patient impact but also being able to improve the care team’s ability to provide patient care .. returning time to them to even be able to spend on patient care.

41:55 Missed opportunity lands squarely in our world ... we had really good uptake with nursing ... I’d say we still have to catch our breath and I think there’s an opportunity to put in an introductory tool ... to explore and fully utilise the system

I loved it .. my family was living in that room and I found things that I didn’t know about ... so still plenty of untapped potential

43:43 We’re not as large and well-funded as Langone – what can we do.

I would say point blank the cloud solution that Oneview brought to us in our time of need was an out of the box turnkey, frankly fairly affordable, option that required much was sort of that small, medium and large, that goldilocks what we needed at a moment and I’d say every bit of integration is not necessary ... there is a clear advantage to he Cloud solution that is really light footprint and sort of turnkey in that regards

45:30 how was the adoption ... once you get a more senior patient engaged .. our experience has been they are a much stickier user ... we can’t simply be ageist and fallback on old people can’t use tech .. our lesson learned is a little bit of extra activation energy upfront ... pays dividends

50:00 [Security question] .. a lot of the integration and making sure that you don’t end up with the PHI for the wrong patient... a large part of it was solved by the Oneview platform working in a way that limits all of that stuff ... with the Oneview kiosk mode and our MDM we effectively lock down the device in kiosk mode. When a patient moves the device is completely wiped remotely.

52:30 Training and resources required ... the support really is pretty light from a technical support perspective .. we don’t have too many issues on a regular basis .. the system doesn’t ever really go down. Which is one of the benefits of the system.

55:00 What does the roadmap look like? We’ve got tons of different innovations that we’re looking at ... voice activation may open up opportunities
