SGA to scale up its graphite processing flowsheet
Our 2022 Next Investors Small Cap Pick of the Year, Sarytogan Graphite (ASX: SGA) just hit another key milestone for its graphite project in Kazakhstan.
SGA already has:
- The highest grade resource on the ASX. In mining grade is king. Higher grades typically lead to lower costs of processing a resource into a final saleable product.
- The second largest graphite resource on the ASX in terms of contained graphite. Second only to Syrah Resources, which is capped at $477M.
- Battery grade product - A graphite resource that can be processed to a high enough purity to be sold into high value battery anode markets (99.99% purity).
SGA finally hit that all important 99.99% purity level back in August - we covered that news in the following note.
At the time, the results were achieved using 50g samples of SGA’s graphite.
The next stage of works is to prove that it can be done at a bulk scale.
Today SGA confirmed the precursor materials for industrial scale testing had been completed.
Now SGA is preparing to send off 3-6kg batches for scale up testing and to see how well the graphite performs in batteries.
What’s next for SGA?
Ongoing metwork 🔄
Having now surpassed 99.95% TGC purity levels, the next phase of work will be about optimising and scaling up its flowsheet.
Feasibility Studies 🔄
SGA confirmed today that its Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) was on track for Q3 - 2024.
