OKR starts geophysical surveys in world’s best uranium district
Our uranium development and enrichment Investment, Okapi Resources (ASX:OKR), has just kicked off its airborne geophysics survey, looking to firm up drill targets in the prolific Athabasca Basin, Canada.
We first Invested in OKR last month, and were particularly attracted to OKR’s projects in the Athabasca Basin.
We see these projects as highly prospective for a significant uranium discovery - in part due to the uranium district’s long history producing some of the highest grade discoveries and mines.
Aiding OKR’s progress here is an existing drillhole from 2018, which recorded 7.2m @
310ppm including 0.5m @ 1,274ppm U3O8:
We think that the high grade section of that intercept is worthy of follow up and OKR will be looking to just this with its upcoming geophysical surveying program.
Ultimately the program will be used to rank high priority drill targets for an upcoming drill campaign at these Athabasca Basin projects which sit ~100kms to the north of Cameco’s Cigar Lake mine:
What’s next for OKR?
OKR already has a drilling permit to drill up to 40 drill holes at the Newnham Lake Uranium
Project.
After running the geophysical surveys, interpreting the data and ranking drill targets OKR is planning a drill program over this project in the North American summer months (around Mid-2023).
