SECOS Group Limited’s (ASX:SES) customer, Purus, has clinched its first sales of its BioHybrid Adhesive Mat, which was developed in partnership with SES.
The BioHybrid Adhesive Mat, which is derived from SES’s patented BioHybrid resin, is the world’s first contamination control product containing renewable, plant-based materials.
SES is a Melbourne-based leading developer and manufacturer of sustainable packaging materials. It supplies its proprietary biodegradable resins, packaging products and high-quality cast films to a blue-chip global customer base. The small cap holds a robust patent portfolio and the global trend toward sustainable packaging is fuelling the company's growth.
Purus, which is a world-leading supplier of cleanroom consumables, is selling the BioHybrid Adhesive Mat to larger scale companies across the US and Europe, capitalising on the emerging demand for environmentally friendly products. The mats remove and contain dirt and dust from foot traffic and equipment, capturing 99% of all foot-borne contaminants.
Purus collaborated with SES to develop these innovative products, and it’s anticipated that increased product awareness will surge sales volume moving forward.
BioHybrid refers to the special type of resin blend used to create individual layers on the mats.
Historically, these layers have been coated with 100% low-density polyethylene film, which is sourced from non-renewable sources.
BioHybrid Adhesive Mats are powered by SES’ unique bio-friendly resin, offering custom blends of polyethylene with thermoplastic starch (TPS) which is made from renewable, sustainable raw materials.
SES executive chairman, Richard Tegoni, commented on the news: “We are excited to be involved in the development of an environmentally friendly cutting-edge product and anticipate that we will be involved in further significant opportunities as the global environmental awareness movement grows.
“Our collaboration with Purus, and sale of eco-friendly BioHybrid mats into Europe and the US, unlocks significant opportunities for SECOS as the company expands its reach into large and attractive international markets.”
The BioHybrid Adhesive Mat is just one of several eco-friendly initiatives Purus is embarking upon.
Purus president, Dennis Baldwin, believes first sales of the mat are just the beginning: “It is impossible to plan for the future without focusing on sustainability. We are looking at every step of the process to ensure that we are doing everything we can.”
Based on Purus’ current annual production volume, its BioHybrid Mats will save 135 metric tons of CO2 emissions, according to an analysis by ExcelPlas.
