Transerv Energy (ASX:TSV) has a new plan to deal with water from the Warro gas field – moving to 12 hour cycling to address the issue.
The ASX-listed company told its shareholders today that it had a new plan to deal with water coming from the target formation at Warro-6 – a problem which has traditionally plagued the field.
It shut the well in for three days, with pressure building up in the well, before the valve was released.
It flowed the well on choke for a 12 hour period, with the initial gas rate measuring as high as 7 million cubic feet of gas per day before reducing down to 1.6MMcfd – with an average of 2.4MMcfd.
Over the same period, the well started with no water returned to surface, and then yielded 140 barrels of water per day by the end of the test.
The last recorded water level for the well was 190bwpd.
TSV will now operate on a 12 hour on, 12 hour off production schedule to see if this yields a better result than leaving production open for 24 hours.
The theory is that by building up the pressure of gas in the well, it will go above the water in the well and flow first – acting as a separation measure.
It’s a tactic used in the US for wells which yield water at higher levels, and TSV is hoping the same tactic can be applied at Warro-6.
In other TSV news, Warro-5 remains shut-in to measure wellhead pressure while it awaits government approvals and equipment availability to re-test Warro-4.
