Quantify Technology Holdings (ASX: QFY) has announced the appointment of ex-Cisco executive David Barker to the role of General Manager to coincide with the company’s directional shift towards increased accelerated commercialisation.

Mr Barker brings to the role a wealth of experience in this area, with almost 30 years’ leadership in sales and strategic planning for Oracle and Cisco, among other major multinationals.

In terms of the directional shift the company is looking to take, management’s focus will be on ensuring it has ample commercialisation expertise to accelerate its major contract deal flow for its innovative products and platforms.

It is still early stage in QFY’s commercialisation ambitions so investors should seek professional financial advice if considering this stock for their portfolio.

QFY’s proprietary Q Device and Febric Extension fascia technologies act as a replacement for standard power outlets and light switches in buildings, making them ‘intelligent’ using IoT technology. Fabric Extension is achieved by incorporating the frequencies and ‘languages’ used in IoT devices in QFY’s Fabric Extension fascias. This allows other vendor IoT solutions to use the always powered, internet-connected hardware that is at the core of Quantify’s platform.

Mr Barker will endeavour to accelerate the company’s commercialisation efforts for its technology, in particular its flagship Q Device product. Prior to this appointment, Mr Barker acted as a consultant to the company and also spent 20 years at tech giant Cisco in a range of senior positions including Country Manager for New Zealand.

For three years Mr Barker was also based in Singapore as Cisco’s Sales Director, Service Sales, where he was responsible for establishing and maintaining Service Sales for the Company’s Tier-1 accounts and developed a services group to implement and maintain new product introduction and solution support.

At Oracle, he was Systems Vice President – Australia and New Zealand, where he managed the systems group across Australia and New Zealand and was a member of Oracle’s senior leadership team.

QFY shifts to full throttle commercialisation efforts

The appointment of Mr Barker is part of an overall corporate restructure for the company, as it expands its commercialisation efforts. As part of this restructure, it is actively reducing overheads and devoting resources towards sales and marketing – its key focus at this stage of growth.

“I am very excited about Quantify Technology’s prospects and pleased to be joining the firm in a fulltime role. During my time consulting for the Company, I gained a comprehensive understanding of its tremendous technology that solves many of the problems currently faced in the Internet of Things market and recognise the enormous potential of the Company moving forward,” Mr Barker said.

Quantify Managing Director Mark Lapins also commented on the appointment.

“David’s appointment significantly bolsters Quantify Technology’s leadership team as the Company focusses on accelerating the commercialisation and sale of its technology. His strong background in sales and strategic planning for some of the world’s biggest technology companies is a tremendous asset as we look to our next phase of growth.”
