Our friends at JADEO have supplied this article to us. An interesting take on one entrepreneur's battle with a medical condition and how medical cannabis has helped her overcome her pain.

As several stocks move into the medical marijuana industry, their role in creating a sound economic sector and contributing to stories like those below will be invaluable.

Jacqui Childs

If you're familiar with the Canadian Cannabis industry at all, then you know the name Jacqui Childs. She has made quite the name for herself as a best-selling author, entrepreneur, and a top influencer in the cannabis industry by sharing her personal journey cannabis. Here Jacqui discusses with the JADEO team what influenced her move into the industry and how cannabis plays a great role in her creative and self-care routines.

How did you get your start in the cannabis industry?

My father in law saw how unwell I always was, and knew I was on dozens of pharmaceuticals. He asked me to try some cbd oil for a few weeks.

I was privately weaning off pharmaceuticals. The withdrawal was apparently very evident.

Within weeks I was better, not great but better. I began juicing raw leaves. Bathing in CBD bath-bombs. And using suppositories. Although not cured. I was hooked. I felt better and I felt calm for the first time in so many years.

Based on your experiences what do you love most about working in the cannabis industry?

I love that I can be me. Share my journey and actually be celebrated. I get we're not always going to agree. And that's ok. My journey is about health and wellness. It's been pretty amazing to spend time with inspiring people and call that "work" The #womeninweed movement is strong and loud. I'm very happy to be a part of doing good and spreading kindness.

Do you think legalization has helped with reducing the stigma around cannabis?

Perhaps a tad. Lol. There's definitely lots of work to be done as far as ending the stigma. It will definitely take all of us from all markets to stay focused on the greater good. Helping to end the stigma will take time. We need to continue to share positive stories with all of those around us. I understand no one wants to be uncomfortable or judged but unfortunately, that's how the stereotypes and stigmas will end. Being uncomfortable and really honest isn't easy, but very necessary.

How do you personally feel women influence the industry?

I personally feel women influence the industry in such a positive and real way.

They're nurturers by nature. They can be soft and strong. Their ideas and points of view are so needed. Mother nature is "female" right? Women are at the forefront of this movement as caretakers and household decision makers.

I would like to add, it will take all of us men AND women, we must come together and create positive lasting change.

You're a mom, do you feel like mothers in particular face a double standard when it comes to cannabis use?

Wow, this question fires me up. Yes, definitely. Women, mothers are in fear of losing their children. Being judged and ostracized. If your child was sick and you believed you had a way to help them but you could have them taken from you. It's a scary and sad place to be. While going through divorces or falling out with family. Moms are threatened and attacked in courts and by family because of their cannabis use.

Losing a child to the opioid crisis right now would be absolutely devastating, when we know there is a solution. I guess we could discuss this more over a couple of bottles of wine and a Xanax.

You're also a best -selling author, is cannabis a part of your creative process?

Cannabis is most definitely apart of my creative process. I need internal calm and quiet to focus. I must be ego free to share my authentic self with my audience. I'm not afraid to show who I am and admit my mistakes. That's when true magic and art takes life when I'm most vulnerable and open. For me, cannabis and plant-based medicine is always part of the process.. even now.

How does cannabis play a role in your self-care routine?

Cannabis is my self-care. It's natural. I can feel good about using her in all her beauty. CBD oil is used in and on every part of me. I feel better when I sleep better. Now that I'm a little older self-care means, rest and calm. That's beautiful, that's self-care.

What advice do you have for women who want to get started in the industry?

Start. Now. Today would be a great time. With legalization so new, you haven't missed a thing. There's room for all of us. We need people from different industries and all walks of life. If you're at home thinking about what's missing from the industry or what you think you could do better. Do it! I recently was asked if I thought there was enough focus on menopause and aging, sex and cannabis after 45, the women asking was very passionate and excited about these topics. I responded to her with... " it really matters what you think and if you think it's under-addressed, perhaps you just found your calling and a space for yourself in the cannabis industry."

The time is now ladies, we're making history. Let's acknowledge the past, learn from our mistakes and do better. We're all in this together.
