Mantle Mining Corporation (ASX: MNM) has received encouraging news in relation to its Morning Star and Rose of Denmark gold mines in Eastern Victoria.
Having completed a structural reinterpretation and historical review of the high grade Kenny’s zone in the Morning Star gold mine, MNM has been able to ascertain that it is distinguished by the substantial quantity of very high grade gold intercepts, featuring drill results of up to 17,608 grams per tonne gold.
While this particular intercept was of a very narrow width of 0.15 metres, management noted that the high-grade intercepts occur over a recognisable zone of approximately 150 metres by 50 metres where no mining and little underground sampling has taken place.
Consequently, the company sees the prospect of regular high grade mineralisation at the deposit. This view appears to be validated by some of the larger widths which included 1.5 metres grading 38.6 grams per tonne.
Commenting on this development, MNM’s Chief Executive Tom de Vries said, “The abundance of high-grade intercepts in the Kenny’s zone gives us further encouragement for the mining potential of this zone, and it is encouraging that this zone is already accessible from existing underground mine development”.
It should be noted here that this is an early stage play and investors should seek professional financial advice before making an investment decision.
Consequently this zone is a priority target for further underground sampling and development as the company works towards the reopening of the Morning Star mine.
Historical data suggests recent exploration results are consistent with previous mining characterised by multiple narrow zones of high-grade veining which made the area at the northern end of the Whitelaw reef one of the best high-grade producing zones in the Morning Star mine.
