CSIRO to help CXO explore NT base metals project
Hey! Looks like you have stumbled on the section of our website where we have archived articles from our old business model.
In 2019 the original founding team returned to run Next Investors, we changed our business model to only write about stocks we carefully research and are invested in for the long term.

Core Exploration (ASX:CXO) will work in partnership with Australia’s peak science body the CSIRO to target mineral systems in two of its Northern Territory exploration projects.
The CSIRO will collaborate with CXO to produce an integrated analysis of its exploration data, including a recent electromagnetic survey that confirmed a brace of conductive targets in a large prospective zone at its Jervois Domain base metals project.
CXO’s Albarta Projects will also be analysed, and the data will be used to help CXO develop and select drilling targets while helping the CSIRO refine its Aerial Electromagnetic survey and analysis technology.
The work will be co-funded and CXO expects to have drill target information from the CSIRO by the end of March.
These developments come after CXO received all results from recent reverse circulation drilling at its Virginia Prospect and Copper Royals district in the Northern Territory.
Virginia and Copper Royals drilling results
Twelve holes were drilled at the Virginia Prospect and six at Copper Royals for a total of 1,745m, to depths up to 120m. Results have confirmed a deep, inconsistently mineralised structure at Virginia and intersections of anomalous levels of copper and zinc at Copper Royals.
CXO completed maiden drilling at the Virginia Prospect in late 2014 to test the source of elevated copper in outcrop and soil geochemistry mapped for over 1.5km.
The drilling at Virginia intersected widespread iron sulphide and localised copper sulphide, while copper carbonate minerals extend from surface to 20m depth.
CXO’s reconnaissance drilling program at Copper Royals tested new targets with a single hole to determine potential for future follow‐up. Occasional anomalous levels of copper and zinc were intersected, although no significant mineralised zones were found.
