Archer Exploration Limited (ASX:AXE) has today announced the findings of technical analysis undertaken at the world-class Australian Centre for Microscopy & Microanalysis at The University of Sydney. The analysis focused on the structural and physical properties of graphite samples sourced from its Campoona graphite deposit, via viewing individual carbon atoms at an atomic scale.
The analysis found that the intrinsic physical properties of AXE’s graphite is suitable for use in batteries and the production of graphene. Further, the high quality of the graphite is maintained even after mechanical and chemical processing.
The results confirmed the structure of the Campoona graphite lattice closely matches the ideal theoretical crystalline structure for graphite, with samples consistently showing a high degree of crystallinity clearly visible in the electron microscope images.
The method involved nano-scale and atomic-scale analysis of representative, processed samples of AXE graphite materials extracted from Campoona, using various techniques such as JEOL3000F Transmission Electron Microscope. A key objective of the analysis was to investigate the “’structural integrity and quality of the graphite samples that had undergone mechanical and chemical treatment to yield 99%+ total graphitic content”, according to the company.
It’s worth noting that AXE is an early stage play and investors should seek professional financial advice if considering this company for their portfolio.
The microscopic images demonstrated, at an atomic level, the high quality of AXE’s graphite, with minimal defects; this is critical for AXE considering it is important for battery applications and high-quality graphene production using graphitic feedstocks.
Importantly, AXE can now utilise the positive findings in discussions with potential off-take partners as well as end users.
