Alligator Energy Limited (ASX:AGE) has announced the mobilisation of the technical team for commencement of on-ground work at its Piedmont Cobalt-Nickel project in northern Italy.
During the quarter ending March 31, AGE executed a binding Heads of Agreement with Chris Reindler and Partners to earn up to a 70% interest in the Piedmont sulphide cobalt–nickel project. The JV’s current program is expected to take around eight weeks in total and will comprise the following activities:
- Geological mapping and geochemical sampling
using XRF and assay proximal to main EM/magnetic anomalism with key results to
be reported as available and verified;
- Assessing and mapping all old nickel-cobalt
workings and surface gossan outcrops to ascertain the style of mineralisation
and potential;
- Initial stakeholder introductions including
mines department meetings, and logistical assessment;
- Suitable ground geophysics to locate/confirm the
features identified in the airborne geophysical surveys and field
reconnaissance and to refine drill targets.
It’s worth noting that this is an early stage play and investors should seek professional financial advice if considering this company for their portfolio.
Representatives of CRP are currently assisting with stakeholder introductions, to ensure that existing knowledge and relationships surrounding the Piedmont Cobalt-Nickel project are properly leveraged as the JV ramps up activities.
The Piedmont Project is located within an historic mining district; cobalt, nickel and copper mining took place from the 1800s to the end of World War 2.
During previous exploration, cobalt production grades of over 0.2% were recorded within the Piedmont Project area. However, virtually no modern exploration has been undertaken in the area, until a recent EM survey highlighted the standout target (proximal to historic workings) which is a key focus of AGE’s current work program.
Here is an approximate timeline of the company’s Piedmont Project exploration plans:
AGE is also maintaining its Alligator Rivers uranium projects in the Northern Territory, and progressing preparations for the next stage of exploration.
