Australian based micro-donations company Activistic (ASX:ACU) has added a sixth US veterans affairs charity to its Veteran’s Call platform.

Veteran’s Call is a mobile app where charities focusing on helping US soldiers with the after-effects of war, with people able to donate from their phone without giving up credit card details.

The deal will generate revenue for both the charity and Activistic, a win-win situation.

The latest charity on the platform is the VFW National Home for Children (VFWNHC), which helps veterans and their families recover from war and gain a new foothold in life.

The app helps the charity reach a new audience of young micro-donors who may not necessarily seek out charities on their own, but still want the opportunity to make a difference.

Users can choose from a list of charities to give a monthly donation to, which shows up on their phone bill rather than being a separate donation. Both ACU and the phone company take a clip on the transaction.

For the charity, it’s a way to engage with a new audience and remove traditional barriers for donation.

“We look forward to starting a conversation through the app with young micro-donors about our work and our mission so that they may feel invested in our successes,” VFWNHC executive director Patrice Green said.

“This is a critical dialogue to begin since today’s [five dollar] donor is tomorrow’s high net worth philanthropist.”

The VFWNHC will receive 85% of each donation.

Shares in ACU closed yesterday’s trade up 20% at 12c.
