Perth-based junior developer, Australian Mines (ASX:AUZ | OTCQB:AMSLF), this morning announced its appointment of Stuart Peterson in the newly created role of exploration manager.
This new addition to the AUZ tech team comes as the company ramps up its project development and regional exploration activities in 2018.
Peterson is a qualified geologist and seasoned exploration manager, with more than 15 years of industry experience, including exploration of nickel-cobalt mineralisation, working across both Australian and international project portfolios.
He has demonstrated expertise in leading exploration and field activities, as well as target generation and project review. Peterson joins AUZ after serving as exploration manager at the ASX-listed Lithium Power International (ASX:LPI), where he was instrumental in the development of the emerging producer’s assets across Australia.
A high priority for Peterson in his new role will be the final planning and commissioning of a Resource expansion drilling campaign at the Flemington cobalt-nickel-scandium project in central New South Wales. AUZ aims to expand the Mineral Resource at this project ahead of a pre-feasibility study later this year.
Peterson will also spearhead the expansion of AUZ’s on-ground exploration team in NSW, which will be based at the company’s newly established regional office in the town of Parkes. This regional office will support field operations at both Flemington and the greenfields Thackaringa cobalt project, as well as providing a local contact point for surrounding communities.
Of course, as with all minerals exploration, success is not guaranteed — consider your own personal circumstances before investing, and seek professional financial advice.
AUZ managing director, Benjamin Bell, said: “The opportunity exists for us to significantly increase the Mineral Resource inventory at our Flemington Project, with the current Mineral Resource area covering only a fraction of the prospective host geology within those tenements.
“Given Stuart’s high level of relevant exploration experience and past management roles, I look forward to him taking the lead on what will be a busy period of on-ground activity for Australian Mines, starting with our large-scale resource expansion drilling program at Flemington next quarter.”
