Demonstrated at this week’s United States Government “Black Dart” Exercise was Department 13 International Limited’s (ASX:D13) counter-drone technology, Mesmer.

The event held at Eglin Air Force Base from 11th September to 23rd September was attended by over 1200 participants and observers from the industry.

Black Dart is a premier event for the industry where various stakeholders in the military industrial complex meet to witness the latest technology.

During the US Department of Defence’s counter-drone testing and evaluation exercise, Mesmer exceeded demonstration objectives and was evaluated by a variety of US government agencies and international organisations.

D13’s long term strategy is to sell its counter drone solution to these agencies.

However uptake is yet to be determined and therefore those looking to add D13 to their portfolio, should weigh up all factors relating to the company and seek professional financial advice.

The exercises were performed at a distance of over one kilometre, as per FCC guidelines for RF transmission, during which Mesmer mitigated its targets well within the test objectives. A vital operational requirement and well under the threshold of defence organisations.

D13 also demonstrated Mesmer’s flexibility in the field by deploying “on-the-fly” detection capabilities against unknown drones.

D13 plans to have Mesmer ready for commercialisation by January 2017.
